There are certain brands where you just expect to see familiar features in every outlet. Walk into a major high street food chain, and you’ll know what to expect from the layout, décor and experience. However, we can guarantee that the shopfitters found every project unique, as every building has its variations. Getting that feeling of familiarity comes down to the brand and consistency in quality.
SKK works with an industry-leading brand, Point S, which is the largest independent tyre dealer and car maintenance network in the world. We are their nominated contractor for the UK, and over the last 6 years, we have worked on over 100 branches. However, every single branch has been unique – as they are owned and run by an independent Point S member. So, for every project, our task has been to fit out the branch to harmonise the member branding with the Point S style – giving every customer that reassuring sense of familiarity from a world-renowned brand and bringing in the member’s identity at the same time.
This particular shop fit-out was for EAC Telford Car and Commercial. As a new branch of Point S, the main aim of the job was to harmonise the EAC and Point S brands.
As with many shopfitting jobs, the challenge here was mainly one of time. We knew that we would be handed an empty shell, but we didn’t know when. From experience, we know that the key to all smooth-running projects is good communication. We stayed in touch with the contractors employed by the landlord so that we had a good idea of when we could expect the handover.
As it was, we were handed the building with just one week to complete the works in time for the grand opening. To stay ahead, we did a lot of pre-preparation work, including assembling and painting bespoke items in the workshop. This meant that we could speed up delivery and the assembly time on site. To meet the deadline, we brought in extra labour and provided longer working hours.
The EAC building was handed to us as an empty shell, complete with new floor and ceiling. We were required to decorate the walls and install the corporate signage and bespoke display equipment, including a bespoke reception counter.
Having worked with Point S before, we are experienced in working with their products and colours, which are all specified by the brand guidelines produced in France and duplicated worldwide. If deviations are needed, permission can take a long time to be approved. Keeping to the guidelines can be quite a challenge as some products such as furniture can be out of stock or discontinued, and we need to source alternatives.
For this project we brought in our signage partner, Sign Specialist, who produced the visuals and completed the installation inside and out while maximising the space available.
Our project management skills and experience allow us to offer a complete turnkey operation at every stage, keeping to a strict programme of work and staying within budget. It’s this reliability and consistent performance that means brands like Point S rely on us time after time.
With this project, we were pleased with our feedback from Point S, and also from their member, EAC Telford Car and Commercial, who praised our entire workforce for the effort we put in and the excellent results.
I have used SKK Interiors on two occasions for my Garage Reception area, and on both occasions, Spencer and his team have been absolutely outstanding from the first time I met them. Their accuracy and design were second to none.
After planning our receptions, the SKK team came in and carried all work out to a high specification. They were polite & very pleasant to deal with. They even went one step further and hoovered, cleaned and mopped the floor after themselves. Amazing company to deal with.
